Introducing, Winnebago Weekly! 💙

This flyer will help our community get a weekly overview of our schools' events. We look forward to a great year!

Last week, our seventh through twelfth graders participated in the annual Social Studies Olympics! 📚🏅 Students were selected for their teams after being nominated by their teachers! They competed in many events including: 💨Race to sort: students had to quickly identify if the source is primary or secondary. 🏀Shoot to answer: students had to make the basket and answer the question correctly to move on. 🗺️Sort-the-map: students had to correctly categorize each map and complete the challenge quickly! 📝Finally, to determine the winner, teams had to complete a WHAM assignment, in full sentences. The team with the most points won! Congratulations to our winning team for the 2026 Social Studies Olympics... the Juniors! 🏆

We are proud to share our counselors at WPS! Thank you for all that you do! 👏

On Friday, our second graders participated in an activity involving toothpaste! 🪥 They squeezed the entire tube out then tried to put the toothpaste back in, but it didn't work! They learned that this is similar to our words and actions- that once it is out there ,no matter what you say or do, they cannot be undone. It reminded them (and us) to think before we speak, especially when our words might hurt someone's feelings! Not to mention, who doesn't love getting to play with slimy goop! 😁

Today, we are introducing you to our music teachers! 🎶

Yesterday, Winnebago Public School students practiced what to do in the event of an emergency on the bus. 🚌 They practiced safely exiting the bus and discussed the possible exits depending on where an accident occurs. They listened carefully to directions and successfully completed the lesson! 👏

Winnebago Public Schools is looking for a head cheer coach for high school! 📣 If interested, submit a letter of interest to Mr. Stoner.

Next up, our two Physical Education teachers!

WPS is excited to share that the after-school Culture Club is returning for the 2026-2027 school year! First meeting will be September 3! Wagigųs Wolfe will be with first through fourth Grade. She will host the club in room 139! Wagigųs LaMere will be with Fifth Grade and up. She will host the club in room 138! If your child is interested in joining, sign ups will be next week, August 27 and 28, at 3:45 pm -4:30pm. Please sign up in the Dual Language Classrooms. There are 20 spots for each age range.

Attention Academy/NCPA Scholars and Parents!

WPS Academy & NCPA are excited to invite all scholars and parents/guardians to our Back to School Night!

⏰ 5:00–6:30 PM
📍 WPS East Practice Gym

This is a required event for all Academy scholars and parents/guardians. Families will complete important paperwork for the 2026–2027 school year and receive important information as we begin the new school year.

Dinner will be provided!

We look forward to welcoming to seeing our Academy/NCPA families!

Reminder: Late Start Wednesdays Students and families, please remember that Wednesdays are Late Start Days. Students do not begin school until 9:00 a.m. Thank you for planning accordingly

WPS is excited to offer the Class of 2027 the opportunity for free senior pictures! WPS PR Coordinators, Cherish and Sydney, want to gain experience with new cameras and editing software by taking pictures of the seniors! What to know: ⏰These are 20 minute sessions (quick and painless). 📍Pictures will be taken on school property in various locations. 📅While official days have not been set, we are planning for end of September. 🏅If you are involved in any activities and would like to take photos in your uniform you are more than welcome! If you are interested, please leave a comment or contact Cherish or Sydney via Apptegy.
