Reminder to seventh through ninth grade students!

JAG will be hosting their meet and greet tonight, beginning at 6:30pm in the WPS cafeteria! Pizza will be served. 🍕

In case you missed it, on Friday WPS staff collaborated with police and the WIN to put out a PSA on traffic safety around our school. When dropping off or picking up your student, make sure you follow these safety rules and laws: 🐌Slow down when students are around. 📵Stay off your phone. Pay attention to the road and be prepared for any sudden stops or changes in traffic. 🛑 Come to a complete stop when a school bus arm is out, flashing red lights, when our cross walk patrol lights are on, or when they are in the middle of the crosswalk directing students across. Our top priority is to get our students here safely and on time, so with your help we can make that happen!

📣Reminder! 📣 If your child is interested in joining the Culture Club, sign ups will be happening today and tomorrow after school, 3:45pm to 4:30pm in the dual-language classrooms! There are only twenty spots per age group, so make sure you sign up early!

Winnebago Schools are excited to introduce our resource and special education teachers!

Cross-Country is leaving at 6:50 AM tomorrow, August 27th, for the Cross-Country meet in Hartington.

On Wednesday, September 9, our WPS mental health team will be doing a presentation on suicide prevention through our adopted program, Lifelines Prevention. 💙 This will take place in the WPS theater at 5:00pm. ⏰ This is adults-only event, but there will be childcare provided. We encourage our community to attend so we can all work together to promote suicide prevention and support our students, families, and community. 🫶

✔️Reminder to our Academy students and families! Tonight we are hosting our back-to-school meeting, in the WPS east practice gym. Dinner will be provided! 🍕 Please note that this event is required for our Academy scholars and families. During this meeting we will be completing paperwork for the 2026-2027 school year. 📄

Attention high school and junior high cross country runners!

There is a meet this Thursday, 8/27, at Hartington. You must have the code of conduct and a physical completed in order to run.

Tomorrow, school will begin at 9:00 AM.

Parents are still welcome to drop students off at the normal drop-off time if needed.

Introducing, Winnebago Weekly! 💙

This flyer will help our community get a weekly overview of our schools' events. We look forward to a great year!

Last week, our seventh through twelfth graders participated in the annual Social Studies Olympics! 📚🏅 Students were selected for their teams after being nominated by their teachers! They competed in many events including: 💨Race to sort: students had to quickly identify if the source is primary or secondary. 🏀Shoot to answer: students had to make the basket and answer the question correctly to move on. 🗺️Sort-the-map: students had to correctly categorize each map and complete the challenge quickly! 📝Finally, to determine the winner, teams had to complete a WHAM assignment, in full sentences. The team with the most points won! Congratulations to our winning team for the 2026 Social Studies Olympics... the Juniors! 🏆

We are proud to share our counselors at WPS! Thank you for all that you do! 👏

On Friday, our second graders participated in an activity involving toothpaste! 🪥 They squeezed the entire tube out then tried to put the toothpaste back in, but it didn't work! They learned that this is similar to our words and actions- that once it is out there ,no matter what you say or do, they cannot be undone. It reminded them (and us) to think before we speak, especially when our words might hurt someone's feelings! Not to mention, who doesn't love getting to play with slimy goop! 😁
