Winnebago Public Schools is collecting input from the community on our school calendar. WPS is looking to provide time for Professional Learning Communities (PLC's) to our staff on a regular basis, in an effort to improve instruction to students. We would like your input on these options.

K-4 and 7-12 Band Spring Concert will be May 1st at 2pm
Greetings Academy Parents & Guardians,
The Summer Camp Orientation is planned for two dates this year and a meal will be provided each date. Summer Camp Orientation is MANDATORY as required paperwork is needed from parents/guardians.
Summer Camp Orientation for current freshman, sophomore and junior Academy students is planned for April 3 (Wednesday), 2024 at 5:00 PM in the East Gym at Winnebago Public School. This date will be more of an open house and parents/guardians can come anytime between 5:00 - 6:30 PM to complete required paperwork.
Summer Camp Orientation for current 8th grade Academy students is planned for April 10th (next Wednesday) at 5:00 PM in the East Gym at Winnebago Public School. There will be an agenda shared soon but parents/guardians should expect to attend at least an hour as certain details, paperwork and information will be presented for rising 9th graders for next academic year.

The HS boys golf meet for tomorrow has been canceled due to rain.
The Haskell college visit students will arrive back at the WPS parking lot in 15-20 minutes.
Tomorrow- Seniors that signed up and turned in permission slips for the Haskell University college visit, please be to the school ready to leave at 5am.
PreACT and ACT Day tomorrow:
Tomorrow all juniors will be taking the ACT test right away in the morning here at school. They need to be here by 7:45 to eat breakfast. When the juniors finish the ACT they will be dismissed for the day. That should be around 1:00 PM.
Freshman and Sophomores will be taking the PreACT and need to be at school by 8:00 to eat breakfast. They will spend the afternoon participating in fun activities organized by the school.
Please get plenty of sleep and eat well tonight so you are ready!
Junior Academy scholars and Parents, This is a reminder to have your scholar at the WPS parking lot tomorrow, Wednesday, March 27th by 7:15am. They will be transported by Ms Fernandez to UNL campus for Junior Shadow Day. This is a mandatory NCPA event. Scholars will return to the school at aprox. 3:30pm. Thank you!
Due to anticipated ice and snow, WPS will have a 10am late start tomorrow, Tuesday, March 26th.
The senior trip to Dave and Busters will be postponed until a later date.

We will be giving away Addams Family t-shirts while supplies last. The show is approximately two hours long. We will have a short intermission with light refreshments. We will also have a showing tomorrow evening at 6:30 as well. T-shirts are for opening night only, but refreshments will be served during intermission on both evenings. Hope to see you all there.

Winnebago Public School proudly presents...The Addams Family Musical: High School Edition! Public Showtimes are March 21st and March 22nd at 6:30. Doors open at 6:00. Admission is FREE!
The Academy is accepting applications for open positions in the 2024-2025 Freshman Academy class. If your student is currently in 8th grade and interested in applying, stop by the front desk, or see Mrs. Pixler to pick up an application. Applications must be received by the end of the school day on Friday March 15th. There is no essay or teacher recommendation required at this time. Those items will be obtained by Mrs. Pixler at a later date.

WPS will be hosting our second annual speech showcase on Tuesday, March 12 starting at 5:00. Like last year, we will provide pizza and drinks. We're asking that families, if they can, provide sides and/or dessert. Performances will begin at 5:30 in one of 3 locations - stage, band room or choir room. A senior/parent ceremony will follow at 6:45 in the theater. Hope to see you all there.
