Mr. Mette’s Art News

March is Youth Art Month. This is a nation-wide celebration of the arts. In conjunction with this celebration the 2019 BIG Show will be held on Wednesday, 20 March at Wakefield High School.

This will be the 10th anniversary of this K-12 exhibition. The exhibition will be open for public viewing in the Wakefield gym from 1-4 pm. Winnebago art students have participated in all of these exhibitions. This year the Art II class will be heading over to participate in hanging their work, the school group activity, and interacting with art students from 15 schools. Students will also vote on each school’s outstanding artist. We are taking approximately 50 pieces of art over to be judged. A complete list of awards will be announced at a later date.

Just a reminder, the 30th Annual Juried Youth Art Exhibition for High School is still up at the Sioux City Art Center. It will close on Sunday, 14 April. Winnebago art students Jayla Price and Elizah Masquat are representing Winnebago in this exhibition.

All of the art classes are busy with a wide variety of projects and materials. Feel free to stop by and see just what is happening in the art room.

Just a reminder that the final parent-teacher conference opportunity is coming next month on Wed. 17 April from 3:45 to 5:45 pm. Please mark your calendar and plan on attending.

Think Spring!!
