Melanie Martinez is Back and Ready for School!

After five years of waiting it’s finally here!! Melanie Martinez’s second studio ALBUM is here, ALONG WITH A FEATURE FILM. The title of the album is K-12 and the album has 13 songs.

  • Wheels on the Bus
  • Class Fight
  • The Principal
  • Show and Fell
  • Nurses Office
  • Drama Club
  • Strawberry Shortcake
  • Lunchbox Friends
  • Orange Juice
  • Detention
  • Teachers Pet
  • High School Sweethearts

As you can see, they all have some connection to school. Melanie thought it would be cool if she could tie real life issues and her experiences in school into an album. Melanie Martinez is a unique artist, she has a soft kinda pink aesthetic and a unique voice. This album is very special to Melanie and her fans and, as you may have heard, Melanie hasn’t really been putting new music out. Her last release was her last album titled Crybaby and that was released in 2015. This new album has her fans, critics and other artists raving, “It’s amazing!” said Iggy Azalea in an interview.

The album also comes with feature film, and gets into depth about each song. Some of the songs are explicit but that does not mean they aren’t good. For example, in “The Principal” she is talking about the President of the United States and in “Strawberry Shortcake” she talks about blossoming as a woman and the struggles of being a girl at that age. The film is set in the Victorian Era but uses modern photography.  They wore uniforms: girls in pink dresses and boys, blue pants and Melanie Martinez knew what she was doing with this project. It was such a success and she’s proud of the movie and wants to continue on with “setting the bar higher.

As far as the songs sound, I’d say the songs are amazing and catchy. When I first listened to the album I was immediately intrigued to finish the album. It overall has a nice sound and great messages. The movie was produced and written by Melanie Martinez, and for the album, she wrote most of that as well.

In the latest interviews she explains how she is going to release her EP After School at the end of February or the beginning of March. People are so impressed with this album and movie that they think it’s the best and maybe could go platinum.
