“All of our dreams come true if we have the courage to pursue them”~WPS Senior Jayla Price
Jayla Price is one of the very few students at Winnebago Public School who have reached their 1000th point mark in basketball!! It all started Tuesday the 28th day of January 2020. There were boy’s and girl’s games at BRLD. The girl’s game started at 6 pm. Both teams showed a great amount of effort. Jayla had a total of 18 pts that game, and late in the 4th quarter, Jayla made her 1000th point. The last few minutes were action-packed and the team got the “W” by one point.
The girl’s team consists of teamwork and friendship. Jayla is one of the captains on the team and represents everywhere she goes. She’s been working hard ever since she started basketball back in the third grade when her father signed her up for a basketball team at the YMCA. Ever since then, she’s been in love with the game and has dedicated herself to playing the best basketball she can.
Jayla was born on March 22, 2002. Her full name Jayla Starr Price. She has a loving father and 8 siblings. Jayla didn’t really know a lot about basketball until her dad signed her up. Today, Jayla is committed to basketball. One of her next goals is to make it to state and win a championship this year. She doesn’t plan to stop after that. She wants to play in college and take this talent all over and inspire others to pursue their dreams and play ball.
Today, the girl’s team is 9-7, and they plan on going to state. They have the skills and teamwork to do it, so nothing is really stopping them, I think that with a little bit of effort and courage and the leadership of players like Jayla, they can do it. Go Lady Indians!!
